John Frieda has been strong contenders in the hair game since the early 2000s. After the launch of the brand named after its founder over 3 decades ago, the brand has gone from strength to strength. However, recently I’ve been looking into new hair products. With coloured hair I have to be careful of the products I use as keeping bright hair is pretty high maintenance and some ingredients in a large number of products on the high street may actually be doing more bad for your hair than good. So is the Hair Detox range worth parting with your cash? Keep reading to find out.
What John Frieda claims
The range, as stated on the bottle is for a hair detox and then to repair it. I love the concept of a detox line as your hair gets built up with products over time and it can often leave your hair feeling heavy, dirty and hard to deal with. By using something that detoxes your hair, makes it feel so much better after. However, the shampoo does make hair colour fade quicker, so possibly only use every so often if you have bright coloured hair. John Frieda claims that it’s products will strengthen your hair and prevent future damage.
First impressions
The packaging of the product compliments the scent of the product within and has a luxury feel to it. With the product being made up of rich green tea and avocado oil, it sounds like the perfect addition to your hair regime. The Detox and Repair range currently consists of four products. Heat protection spray, a hair masque alongside shampoo and conditioner.
After my first use of the shampoo, it left my hair feeling fantastic (and really clean), however, I did notice the fading of my hair colour, so I have decided to add it into my routine, only using it once a week. The masque is a lovely treat, which I’ve started to use weekly on the end of my hair and sleep with it in, creating the ultimate soft locks. My favourite part of the range is the care and protect heat spray as it’s one that I think works for detangling hair and as someone with thick hair it can be difficult to find a product which can deal with my hair.
The price of the range
The Detox & Repair range is normally £5.99 for the shampoo, conditioner and hair masque when full price, which is in line with a variety of other brands sold on the high street. The heat protection spray is £6.99, which again is in line with other ranges on the high street. I would probably only buy parts of the range as opposed to all of it, as I go through a lot of conditioner and the 250ml bottle wouldn’t be value for money for me. However, I would repurchase the heat protection spray as it is perfect for my knotty hair.
After using the products for a number of weeks, I’m happy with the results so far!
The range can be purchased from Boots, Superdrug and Feel Unique.
