When it comes to buying makeup, I’m always the one looking for a bargain. Whether it’s online or in-store, the chances are I’ll have studied the best bargains to be had. In shops, it’s all about using store cards, comparing deals and shopping at stores like TK Maxx. When looking online for luxury beauty products it’s all about discount codes. But how do you have money on branded makeup and still make sure you’re getting the real deal. Let’s face it, nobody wants fake makeup, especially after watching Broken on Netflix.
So here are my top tips for getting high priced beauty items on a budget whilst saving money at the same time.
Try sample sizes
If you’re one of those people who often buy a product before they try it, then end up hating something about it and leaving it within a draw to expire, trying sample sizes is a great way to go. There are a few ways in which sample sizes can be acquired, one being with an existing order. Another being a subscription box, such as Latest in Beauty who allow you to pick your own samples each month.
One of my favourite ways to get samples is via Feel Unique who offer you, 5 samples per month from a large selection as part of their Pick n Mix samples and all you need to do is pay £3.95 postage. With samples from huge luxury beauty brands on offer, it’s a great way to try out new products. In the past, I’ve had a free sample of Nars concealer which lasted ages, as well as a variety of perfume and skincare samples.
Some of the samples on Feel Unique are more worth it than others, for example, their perfume Vials are better than the carded perfume as you can use it more than once.
Subscription Boxes
Another great way of experiencing premium products without paying full price is with a luxury beauty box subscription. Each month you can get a whole variety of amazing products at a fraction of the retail price.
Regularly check TK Maxx
Since discovering the number of high-end beauty products TK Maxx has to offer I regularly check their shops. With luxury beauty brands such as Anastasia Beverly Hills, MAC Too Faced and Becca often being featured for a fraction of the price, you can get your expensive beauty fix for less.
From TK Maxx, recently I’ve seen a MAC lipstick for £7, Too Faced lipsticks for £8, as well as a variety of Becca and Anastasia Beverly Hills products for half the price in which they are in high-end stores such as Selfridges.
Subscribe to newsletters
When shopping online on a site for the first time I’d recommend finding out if they have a newsletter. Most brands try to get you to sign up to their newsletter to be able to provide you with the latest deals on site. However, by doing this, there is usually a reward such as 10% off your first purchase or a gift card on your birthday. The offerings in their newsletters can be advising of sales in advance so you can be ready to get the best deals.
Redeem your points
My final piece of advice when it comes to saving money on your big buys is to redeem your loyalty points. A little while back I wrote a post called are loyalty cards worth it? Although not all are, I found Boots, Superdrug and Debenhams to be the most useful. With all offering points that translate into money off. With Boots, you do have to cover the whole cost of the item before you can use the points, but Superdrug and Debenhams allow you to take off the points once you have a qualifying amount.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and I’d love to know of any tips you have to save money on beauty products.
