The summer months are full of sunshine and warmth, dates with friends and family, days out and long-awaited holidays. But despite the excitement and anticipation that summer brings, it can be an incredibly demanding period, especially as we struggle to make the most of the weather and our limited free time.
Prioritising rest and relaxing aren’t something we consider when the sun is shining and we’re making the most of our time off, however, the importance of unplugging ourselves from everyday life and getting the chance to exhale, is good for our physical, mental and overall well being. Being able to sit still and effectively switch off isn’t easy, so with this in mind, I’ve gathered some wonderful ways you can relax this summer. Read on to find out more.
Unwind With Some Colouring
Did you know that colouring can have the same effect as meditation? Sitting quietly for a length of time, focusing on a particularly soothing action requires a level of concentration that is akin to deep breathing and the sense of relaxation that comes with meditation. And it’s incredibly enjoyable too! If you need to print off some colouring pages, you’ll find hp printer cartridges online here. Treat yourself to some new colouring pens, find a shady spot and switch off your mind for a few minutes. It’s also a great way to unwind before bed and the best part? No screens required – and speaking of no screens…
Unplug From Technology and Social Media
We all spend a little too much time on our phones, yet so many of us automatically reach for our devices without even thinking. Choosing to step away from technology – even just for a few hours – can do wonders for your mental health and the quality of your sleep. Leaving your phone tucked away in your bag or out of the way, means you can live in the moment a little more too.
Do Something You Love
Relaxing doesn’t always mean sitting quietly for long periods, it also means prioritising things you enjoy and putting yourself first for a change. If there’s a book you’ve been meaning to read, now is the time to start. Maybe you’ve always wanted to visit a particular place or you want to pick up your camera and take some stunning photography shots, whatever you love doing, make sure it’s in your summer schedule!
Spend Time With People You Love The Most
We all lead such busy lives, it’s not always easy to keep in touch with those we love. Friends and family often come second to crushing work schedules and pressures from all sides. So, why not take the opportunity to plan some days out, or evenings in? Spending time with people we care about makes us feel good!
Move Your Body
You don’t have to head to the gym and sweat out a 90-minute session this summer if you don’t want to! By moving your body, either by walking, hiking, swimming or even surfing you’ll get your blood pumping and get to try something new!
