If you want to make 2023 your year, you need to start by reading this post! If you’re like me, I find January a pretty hard month, despite it being my Birthday. As most people are feeling down, money is pretty much non-existent and it’s cold like freezing. But now January has passed things may seem a little easier for getting your life in order. If you’re looking for some tips on how to make 2023 your best year yet, here are some of the tips and advice I’ve found during my self-discovery journey.
Make your goals SMART
If you’re confused about making your goals smart, I am here to explain. Recently I learnt about SMART goals, which stand for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely. This essentially means writing small goals, which are specific, easy to measure and you can realistically achieve in a reasonable amount of time. One I am working on is walking, essentially my SMART goal is to walk 3 times a week for 30 minutes each time for the next 30 days. This includes all the steps of SMART.
Write your goals down
It’s been a hot minute since I last posted, sadly I have struggled with blogging as regularly as I’d like to over the last year, but hopefully this time I am back for good. In order to make 2023 my best year yet, it is important for me to set some goals. However, not completely life-changing ones all at once.
I plan on writing out my goals. Writing out my goals achieves two things, being able to look back on my goals with ease as well as getting to write in a fancy fountain pen (your girl loves stationery, as you probably already know). Whether you plan on having a day-to-day plan or a week-by-week plan, grabbing a calendar or desk planner is a great way to write down important dates and plan ahead.
When writing goals it is important to remember the following:
- Make the goals realistic
- Don’t try too many things at once
- Set manageable to-do lists
Take time for you
It’s important to take for you to do the things you enjoy, whether that be playing a game, exercising, spending time with friends or another hobby it is important to take this time for you. If you don’t do this then you’re likely to feel more burnt out and struggle. Planning time each day (if possible) to do something you like will help to encourage your good mood.
Work on your wellness routine
Whether you like to relax at home with a face mask or you’re looking to get professional treatment, taking the time to relax is important. I enjoy getting regular back massages from a sports therapist. However, if you prefer a spa, sauna or having a bath at home, making sure you fit time in for wellness and relaxation is key.
Mental health matters
Another element of wellness which I have started to partake in is therapy. By undergoing therapy you are allowing yourself to open up, and work on dealing with your baggage in a healthier way. In the past, I believed CBT not to be beneficial for me, however, after meeting my current therapist that all changed. It turned out I just hadn’t found the right therapist. It is important to take the time to find a therapist which works for you.
With these tips, I hope you are able to work towards making 2023 your best year yet.
