Technology is used by the majority of us on a daily basis. Whether it’s a phone, laptop, smart watch or a TV, most of us have some type of technology in our homes. In the UK over the last decade the number of people owning a smartphone has grown from 17% to 78%. With new technology being invented each and everyday, it’s no wonder that technology sales are through the roof during the festive season.
Netflix alongside smart watches and VR headsets are a new addition to this decade. With so much technology on the market, how do you know when you’re getting the best deals and what is really worth your money? I’ve compiled a list of ways to make your life easier when it comes to buying technology. So I hope this helps with any shopping your due to do now in the future.
Wait for a product to be out for a while before investing
We all know Apple releases its new products each year in the last quarter, ready for customers to decide what they’d like to purchase. Pre orders are put in and within a month, these devices can be in your hands.
However, when investing in new technology, there can be next to no reviews about the products and the only information go off is what you’ve been told by the company.
Allowing the products a few months on sale before investing usually allows reviews to formulate and any negative information towards the product may have you rethinking your decision.
If you’re looking to save money, it’s always worth choosing the model down from the newest one as they are usually massively reduced when the latest model comes out.
Read trustworthy reviews
Reviews online can be difficult to decide which ones are bias and not so much. The best way to tell is by using sites that provide facts, then share what is good and bad about the product. If the reviews has lots of positive reviews about everything and no negatives, this is either because the product is amazing and there really are no cons, or it’s bias in some way.
For example I personally use Superwatches for reviews on smart watches as they offer roundups of tech as well as reviews on products. On their site they have a ton of different guides including a section about smart watches for girls, as well as one about the best smart watches for iPhone users.
Other sites which are great for honest reviews of technology are Tech Radar who provide reviews on loads of different tech, the reviews are easy to read and provide a helpful insight into the products.
Use compare sites to find out what works best for you
There are compare sites for almost everything and anything, however, for buying a camera I recommend using One-on-One Camera Compare as I’ve used it myself when it comes to buying a camera. It allows you to compare different cameras based on their specs, look, weight and other features. Seeing them next to each other and reading the differences between the two can often help to make a decision on the right camera for you.
There are also other comparison sites for other technology, if you’re on the look out for a different piece of technology.
